The Show Must Go On, but how are the Audiences?

Previously after refusing to turn themselves into the police, doing a strip show on the stage, according to Matichon and sat among people who will ensure their arrest will not be easy. PADs leaders talked about appeal. Manager reported Korn Chatukavanich visited the mob personally as a citizen (and Democrat MP?). Matichon, interviewing, Pariya Thewaneruemitkul (Thammsat Law school) said rebellion (maximum penalty is capital punishment) charge is too much. I guess the government did not intervene earlier because they want to gather solid evidences that they are indeed rebellions.

Ironically, the government will use judicial process against them, the same way Thaksin faced series of legal action.

Prachatat newspaper which is not available over counter in my area reported that NBT aggressors broke in to a private hosting room for Princess Ubolratana at NBT and still broadcasts Luk Kai “Stealing Chicken” theory. The theory talked about PADs used the smaller event like this mob, to overthrow old institutions respected by Thais, by their new politics. I am trying to find more reference to this. The news were read over Taxi Community Radio all day.

Will They Move Out? (the compound will host a royal visit on sat.)

Matichon, citing deputy spokesperson of  the National Police Headquarters, reported that on Saturday, HRH the Crown Prince will use the government house compound to launch “from mother’s day to father’s day: 166 days for unity.” project, which has begun since August 5. He confirmed that it is not an intervention to the current situation. How ironic!

Next stop: Court? Then: Arrest

3.00 pm Nation reported Criminal Court approved warrants to arrest leaders.

Matichon quoting Chamlong said he had assigned power of attroney to other people to manage over 6.6 M Baht donation in case of arrest. The leaders said they will not turn themselves in, but the police have to come and arrest them. (Sound like the “human shield” used in 1992?)

PADs’ Poll: Citing Bangkok University’s poll, Manager said people want to change government but disagree with PADs action. Oh, well, the poll only survey thousan people or so, right?

It seemed like the plan to deal with PADs is to wait until there are undeniable evidence that the leaders are rebellion before they will use. Meanwhile a minor clash results in PADs guards injuries due to a clash with some police at 3 am was reported by Matichon and the Nation. They also reported the reviews from international media is against PADs.

And I was wondering wh PADs did not use the constitution and independent organisations that they like so much to impeach the cabinet. Should they also sack MPs and senators.

Likewise, Taxi community radio and networks still mobilize people’s opinion to support the government and to give support rally to Samak today. They also let ”phone-in” people discussed about “birthday person,” and old party and PADs relationship.

TNA Radio reported that the 82 people were arrested yesterday for trespassing, carrying 3 firearms with ammunitions, destroying properties at NBT, the Criminal Court ordered them to be arrested without bail. They were transfered to Bangkok Special Prison.

Nation report the same situation as yesterday: “We need to pee”

One ear listening to PADs and the other listening to “Shinawatra” Community Radio, I could not feel the different. Thus, there are two “armored vehicle” radio in 2551.

9.30 am Manager reported that the chain on the govt house gate has been cut by police force. After being splashed by water, a former police officer and Udorn PPP MPs were escorted out of the government’s house/ Matichon.

Reporting from the Other Side

There are network of Anti_PADs Radio networks at Cabs Community (Shinawat) Radio or NewskyThailand, if you can.

At 11.30 pm, they call for silent power to prepare to act like Bangrachan villagers to safe the nation. (Meaning another bigger mob? Turn to 92.75 FM (mine phone was better at 92.80 ) if you are in Bangkok. Tomorrow people should express concerns to support the PM around 1 pm. They also call to rescue the nation from “new” politics, including “Satharana Poki” or common capitals (anti-Liberalism, “old” institutions, and capitalism).

The taxi community radio also discussed about mobilizing look seua chao baan (villager scouts)

O, shit. Sound familiar. Can any one moderate the two extreme camps that mobilize hatred.

The other UPDATE: Matichontwo media organisations voiced their disagreement with the PM’s request to ask media to take side and collaborate with the government. They also reported more progress on arrested people.

My suggestion after listening to everybody saying they both want to rescue the nation, they both want to protect the institutions, they both want no violence. Can they both please go home and gather 100,000 people to call for a referendum if we still want an elected government and stop shits on their private radio networks.

The Calm Returns to Aree…

According to my mom who watched ASTV at home, the biggest failure today is when Chamlong demanaded that the 82 guys who has been arrested at NBT to be released by the police. According to many reports, they have been arrested and detained at with charges. Despite not knowing who they guys really were, Chamlong’s televised announcement and the siege of the Police HQ today is a sign that the government wants. This is a total acceptance that the group did not respect scale of non-violence protest and miserably failed to control the crowd. Chamlong earlier maintained that those people ’s weapons such as golf clubs and firearms had been staged by the police and that any violence actions may came from anti-PADs or government supporter impersonating as PADs. Yet, his demand for them to be released cause such unconfident among people in general (who already felt their rights to live as usual had been violated.)

This is a group of violence, lawless mob and it has been way to much stepping the legitimate protest line. After Samak’s international journalist statement, Thai TVs repeatedly broadcasted footage of PADs rocking the NBT gate and surged into the building. Thai-grassroots also published several photos of arrests and weapons seized at NBT. Other reports covering lost and damage done by waves of protesters, delegitimizing PADs claim that they are non-violent. We understand that the government will let PADs uncovering themselves to support the claim that they are not what they promised to be to demobilize anti-PADs supporters (the so-called ‘real majority’) , who will have to take time to travel to Sanam Luang and wait for the silent power’s discontent to a boiling point.

Bangkok Post: The government promised that it won’t last long and five PADs leaders will be arrested.

Meanwhile, it will take PADs more than a day to siege the government house and, to us, it is not a victory or a boost of publicity for PADs.

All day, PADs protest and Taxi radio plus pro-Thaksin community radio broadcasted and allowed people to voice their concerns of extreme measures against PADs. It is confirmed that the Police will use patience and negotiation. I am a bit worried about “volunteer civilians” that said to be employed to demobilize the protest. (Broadcast from Taxi radio reading news on what the government has been taking actions to demobilize, arrest and punish the leaders on charge of “rebellion.”) Taxi radio encourage their network to take photos of PADs protesters and send them to government.

Both sides have heavily their media to give “information” about each other until I do not know who are original “armored vehicle radio” anymore.

Main Roads Block and Police HQ Issue Arrest Warrants for Five PADs Leaders

Bangkok Biz News earlier reported major roads connecting other region to Bangkok were bloccked by PADs supporters in the province. Chumpon and Nakorn Ratchasima are included. They also reported that the Police Headquarters at 14.51 hr, prepare to issue arrest warrant for five leaders.

Bangkok Post said protesters will linger a bit longer at Ministry of Finance “for at least three days”.

Samak threatened to take measures to restore peace or order, ask people to go back home, and asked media to take side. He did not discussed emergency decrees. He warned that legal action may be taken against individual protesters.

Forecast from MoF and Sanam Luang Anti-mob Mob

Large patches of grey cloud has been sighted over MoF and Ari area. It is still sunny, though. I hope the rain will disperse some protesters. Not that I don’t want to disturb the rights and responsibilities of protesters or I do not live the nation (I like people though, nation is ,like Anderson said, is imagined. People are real.)

According to Matichon, Pracha Prasopdee, PPP MP said that the people who disagree with PADs will gather at Sanam Luang and wait until 18.00 hr to see if the government will manage to control PADs’ mob. Nevin’s freinds and Chatupon Prompan, PPP Party list MP also voiced their people’s disagreement and that several groups of anti- coups people will also protest against PADs. Samak will issue a statement after the cabinet meeting.

12.00 pm: Meawgyver is back from observing rally in front of Ministry of Finance. It is not over yet. Police has locked the main gate after several push and pull. Every restaurant is full of yellow people, meaning residents will not have enough to eat in the evening. Food vendors seem to like it so far.

PADs demanded the Police to release arrested members, or they will siege the Police HQ

9.00 am: PADs just declared that the Police HQ will be ‘visited,’ if the police do not release its member arrested during NBT blockade. Taxi radio said the PM will use final measures to address the rally. Speakers said the emergency decree may be declared soon.
UPDATE: The 80 members were those who break in to NBT and force NBT officers to stop broadcasting.

Taxi Radio and Community Radio Mobilizes Supporter

Taxi radio asked for supporters to gather at Vibhavadi Soi 3 to prevent PADs from sieging their station. They called for members and silent power of their network to use local road to go to Vibhavadi as the out bound traffic is jam packed.
